  • Scott Cadence PLUS Helmet

    Specifications:

    • Aero Optimized
    • MIPS with SCOTT AIR Technology
    • Optimized Ventilation
    • X-Static® anti-bacterial padding
    • Winter/aero plugs

Scott’s aim when designing the Cadence PLUS was to create the world’s fastest helmet in the peloton whilst boasting class leading ventilation, safety and looks without compromise.

Testing the Cadence Plus helmet without its aero plugs installed at an average speed of 40km/h the helmet is faster than its nearest competitor by just shy of a second with other brands coming in a substantial 13 seconds behind. Once the aero plugs are installed a further 5 seconds are pulled out allowing you time to zip up your jersey and pull a one handed wheelie over the line.

Amazingly the Cadence helmet keeps your head cooler by 1.1 % than if you aren’t wearing a helmet at all! This is down to the optimisation of airflow through the helmet and also on the outside. Having such superb ventilation is rare on an aero helmet which generally are thought of as heat retaining due to their smooth lines and minimal venting.

This helmet is equipped with MIPS technology which uses a double layer to provide added protection against rotational violence in the event of an accident. The inner protective layer stays fixed to the head whilst the outer helmet is able to move and slide relative to the head in the event of an accident, allowing more of the impact to be absorbed by the helmet than with a non MIPS helmet. Can you afford to not be MIPS equipped?

    Bikeradar Review

The occipital cradle of Scott’s Halo Fit System has three heights and circumference adjustment is via a rotary dial. A clever separator keeps the straps far apart so they don’t clash with your ears, all helping to make the Cadence Plus one of the best fitting and most secure helmets I’ve tried recently. While the price for a top-flight lid with MIPS [Multi-directional Impact Protection System] additional protective technology is good.

In the real world, it looks slick and feels fast, with no wind noise and a satisfyingly compact shell. Our large size weighs 353g, or 380g including the bungs, which useful as they are, aren’t something you would carry just in case as they need almost a whole pocket and can only be fitted or removed with the helmet off. But so long as you decide in advance, they do extend the helmet’s versatility.

    BikeRadar verdict

"A unique and unmistakably aero road helmet that feels as airy as it does fast"

Scott

The Scott story began in the Sun Valley, Idaho by top class ski racer and innovative thinker Ed Scott. He designed and developed the first tapered aluminium ski pole, rendering bamboo and steel poles defunct at the highest level of competition. The company then moved into different markets with motocross and cycling emerging as new targets for the business. Greg Lemond stunned the cycling world when he used the first ever production aero bar, which was made by Scott in his 1989 Tour de France win. Innovation and technology remain at the forefront of Scott’s design ethos in all their products. Moving forward to the present day Scott produce; bikes, components, shoes, helmets, clothing and much more, all with the same meticulous detail to performance as when Ed Scott developed his ski poles in 1958. As a result it is no surprise Scott bikes and riders have been at the forefront of international cycle sport.

Nino Schurter and Jenny Rissveds stormed to victory in the XC MTB discipline at the Rio Olympics. The pair who ride for the Scott Odlo MTB Racing Team were riding the latest evolution of the Scott Spark. In road racing the Scott Foil and Addict have become the bikes to watch whether climbing up mountains in the Alps or blasting along the cobbles in the Arenburg forest. Adam Yates and his Orica–BikeExchange team mates have been producing consistently top results using Scott products. The latest big signings for Scott are the Browlee brothers Jonny and Alister who need no introduction in the world of triathlon. The brothers who have and continue to dominate the discipline will be opening a new chapter with the brand utilising Scott’s attention to detail and no shortcuts approach to creating the best equipment on the planet.
